Furleigh Estate, Classic Reserve 2010Sparkling Wine, England
What they say:
Four years of careful planning and investment has transformed the former dairy farm into a modern and productive vineyard and winery.
Now producing a premium sparkling wine with refined character and definition. It has an attractive lemon-gold core with a trace of tiny, slow bubbles.
Region: Bridport, Dorset.
Grape: 60% Chardonnay, 35% PInot Noir, 5% Pinot Meunier
Alcohol by Volume: 12%
Bouquet: The wonderful savoury aroma includes hazelnuts and toasted brioche alongside sweeter notes of butterscotch.
Palate: The palate is rich with a creamy texture. Baked apple strudel & buttered toast. It is beautifully complex with excellent weight on the mid-palate and a seamless, lingering finish
Best served with: This is definitely a foodie sparkling wine which, served chilled, can marry well with poultry dishes such as goose, turkey, chicken, quail or partridge. Or with pasta dishes like Carbonara.
What we say:
This wine is full on with amazing flavours from start to finish. Very complex and extremely well made. If you like a little body and texture to your wine then try this one. Aromas of honey on buttered toast. On the palate you get baked fruits and butterscotch but yet this wine still has good acidity.
It’s definitely one that works well with food with its full body and creaminess.
